General Notes: Husband - Felix Negley


He was born May 13, 1782, and in 1796 went to live on the site of the later borough of Tarentum (the third ward), Allegheny. He was very enterprising and industrious, and took a conspicuous part in the development of the resources and industries of the neighborhood. He built a saw mill and a grist mill, and in 1821, a carding factory. In 1824 he entered into partnership with Alexander McAllister, in the wool carding business. His death occurred in 1832. He was married in 1800. [GPHWP, 460]

He was of German descent, and in 1796 settled where the borough of Tarentum, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, now stands. In 1797 he built a saw mill and grist mill and in 1821 he built a carding factory and began carding in 1824 in company with Alex. McAllister.

He served in the Revolutionary War.

Another source states that he died in 1832.
