General Notes: Husband - James Horner

He came to America from the North of Ireland. He resided on a farm situated on the main road leading from Bethlehem to Mauch Chunk, near the village of Howertown, in Allen township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.

The Horner family are of Scotch-Irish ancestry, the first member, it is believed, having come to America in 1706, landing at Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and soon settled in Allen township, Northampton County.
He was born in Allen township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, in 1710, and died 1793. [P&HP, 175]

He was a member of Captain Bennett's company of Northampton Light Dragoons in 1777, and fought in the Revolutionary war. Subsequently he is mentioned as judge of the county, in 1782.

General Notes: Wife - Jean Kerr

She was murdered by a party of Indian warriors at the time of the Stinton massacre. She was buried without a coffin; her husband took her corpse to the meeting-house of the English Presbyterian congregation, and there sat up with it, alone, on the night following the massacre, and that the interment took place the following day.

She was killed by the Indians at the Craig settlement during the Scion massacre, and was buried in the Allen township burying ground. She was the first white woman killed in the settlement.
