General Notes: Husband - Dr. Robert M. Hope


He was educated in the common schools, Jackson Academy and Westminster College, began reading medicine in 1871 with Dr. Brough, of New Wilmington, and attended Cleveland Medical College one term, and graduated at the Cincinnati Medical College in 1874. He began practice at North Liberty, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, and in 1879 left there for Mercer.

He was reared in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, on a farm and obtained his education at Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, after which he taught school three terms and commenced the study of medicine, under Ezra Brugh, at New Wilmington. He was graduated from the Cincinnati College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1874, and began the practice of medicine at North Liberty, Mercer county; in 1879 he moved to Mercer. He was a member of the State Medical Society and the Mercer County Society, and the National Society. Of all that was excellent in medical literature, the doctor was a thorough reader.
He was Pension Examiner about fifteen years and in politics is a Republican. In his church relations he was a member of the United Presbyterian church.
