General Notes: Husband - Jacob Truby

He attended the common schools of Madison township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, and took a business course at Iron City College. He was brought up in the hotel business, and was himself a hotelkeeper first at Catfish. In 1876 he became owner of the Loomis House at Elk City. For about thirty-five years he was in the hotel business at various places. After retiring from that line of work, he was for seven years in Pittsburgh, engaged in the life insurance business, with the Order of Unity. Later (1912) he was residing at Clarion, looking after other interests. He was a member of various Masonic bodies, having reached the thirty-second degree; Independent Order of Odd Fellows; also of the Knights of Pythias, of which he was district deputy grand chancellor in 1877; of the Ancient Order of United Workmen; of the Improved Order of Red Men, in which he passed all the chairs, and he refused the chair at the great council; of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was district master workman in district number 36, Knights of Labor. Politically he was a Democrat, and he was elected in 1878 to the state legislature. [GPHAV, 842]

In 1898 he was proprietor of "Hotel Penn," of Reading, Pennsylvania.
