General Notes: Husband - Oscar O. Smith

He was educated in the Red Bank township public schools, and at the age of fifteen years went to Benn's Run, Elk County, Pennsylvania, as a lumberjack for one season. He then entered the mines at New Bethlehem for a year, and returned the following season to lumbering. Laboratory work in the line of electrical testing then occupied his attention, and he traveled over the greater part of the middle and southern west of the union, covering seventeen or eighteen states during the next five years. He then entered the employ of a shoestore for a year and a half, and journeyed as a shoe salesman for a year to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and another year in the maritime provinces, for the D. G. Smith Shoe Store, of New Bethlehem.
