General Notes: Husband - Jacob Holtzinger

This surname was originally spelled Holtzinger and is of Bavarian origin, his father having come from Bavaria in the year 1768 and settling in eastern Pennsylvania, probably in Lancaster County.

He was a lieutenant in a York County, Pennsylvania, regiment during the Revolutionary war.

He was a lieutenant in the Colonial Army in the Revolution, and was taken prisoner at the battle of Long Island and confined in the infamous prison ship in New York harbor. He was among the two or three survivors of the inhuman treatment which they received there, but whether he escaped or was released at the end of the war is not known. However this may be, he settled in Unity township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he was occupied as a farmer, and where his death finally occurred.

He and his wife had "about a dozen" children.
