General Notes: Husband - John Holtzer

He kept a store at "Weavers Old Stand," about half a mile west of Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, on the road from that place to Mount Pleasant. Mr. Holtzer's place was known as "The Half Way House," in that neighborhood and was conducted by him until the year 1855, when he sold it and bought a place four miles southwest of Greensburg, in Hempfield township. This place embraced some one hundred and fifty acres; he there erected in 1863 a house, and in 1871 he erected the barn. He lived there until 1893, when his death occurred at the age of seventy-nine years. His wife survived him and continued to live on the farm with her children until 1898, when her death occurred at the age of seventy-seven years. He was a Democrat in politics, and took an active part in party work in that region.
