He was an oil field worker in the Franklin oil field. Later he was with the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company at the Franklin plant, where he rose to the position of supterintendant. After leaving the machine shop he was engaged in the oil business until his death.
He and his wife had four children; two died in infancy.
