General Notes: Husband - Joseph Hixson

He was born in South Huntingdon township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and was still a young child when the family moved to East Huntingdon township, where he was educated in the common schools. At twenty years of age he began to work by the month for neighboring farmers, and continued to do so for seventeen or eighteen years. He then bought a farm in the vicinity of Scottdale which he not long after sold, and purchased another property on which he then resided. This is an estate of ninety-three acres, which he cultivated with a view to general farming. He was a stockholder in the knife factory at Scottdale. He served as school director of the township. He was a Democrat in politics.
