General Notes: Husband - Jonas Ruff

He was reared on the homestead in Mount Pleasant township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and after his marriage moved to the farm which was his home for the remainder of his life. The estate consisted of one hundred and thirty-two acres, and on it he erected a comfortable brick house. He was one of the successful agriculturists of that part of the county. Though never mingling in public affairs, he consented to serve one term as assessor. Almost all his life he was an active member of the Presbyterian church, and filled the offices of deacon and trustee.
