General Notes: Husband - Jacob Rimer

He and his wife were born, reared and married in Northampton Coun-ty, Pennsylvania. On coming to Clarion County in August, 1815, they located on the present site of the town of Rimersburg, which was named in his honor. Here he took up 300 acres of land, which he divided into town lots and subsequently sold at one dollar per lot. He then removed to a farm in Toby township, a mile and a half from Rimersburg, on the Callensburg road, where he made his home until his death.

He was born in Germany and brought to the United States by his parents when young. They settled in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Learning the tailor's trade, he moved in 1815 to Clarion County, where he farmed and in time became the owner of the property which became the old Rimer homestead. [GPHAV, 639]

When they moved to Clarion County, they had a family of three sons and one daughter. After settling in Toby township, they had five more children. He died at the age of seventy-eight years.
