General Notes: Husband - Samuel Eddy

In 1630 he left London with his brother John, in the ship "Handmaid," and arrived in Plymouth, Massachusetts, October 29, 1630. He was admitted to the freedom of the colony and received the oath on January 1, 1632. In 1637 he had three acres of land in Plymouth set off to him. In 1641 he had six acres of land and thirty of meadow allotted to him. In 1631 he bought a house and lot of Experience Mitchell, at Spring Hill, at the head of Main street, Plymouth. This house he sold in 1645. He was one of the original purchasers of Middleboro, Massachu-setts, and was a member of the military company in 1643.

In 1661 Samuel Eddy, with several neighbors, bought a large tract of land from the Indians, for seventy pounds, and founded the town of Middleboro, which was incorporated in 1669, the transaction being confirmed by the court of Plymouth. Samuel was a large landowner, and in 1633 his assessment was the same as that of Captain Miles Standish.

General Notes: Wife - Elizabeth [Unk]

She was a very energetic and independent woman. She was fined for wringing out clothes on the Lord's Day, but the fine was remitted. She later shocked the colony by walking to Boston on Sunday. She was excused after an admonition because she went on an act of mercy to visit Mistress Saffin who was ill.
