He received his early education in the public schools of Clarion County, Pennsylvania, and at the age of sixteen years entered the Western University at Pittsburgh, after graduating from which he entered the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Baltimore, Mary­land, and graduated with his degree of Doctor of Medicine, June 1, 1905. He then spent one year as assistant resident physician in Bayview Hospital in Baltimore. He was then associated in practice with Dr. McElroy, at McKeesport, Pennsylvania, for a short time; practiced in Trafford, Pennsylvania, for about six months; then removed to Marysville, For­est County, Pennsylvania, where he remained for two years; in April, 1910, he returned to Fryburg, Clarion County, and became associated in practice with his father. He was a Democrat in politics.
