General Notes: Husband - Jacob Newcomer

He and his wife had ten children, of whom George W. was the seventh.

He acquired a limited education in the district schools, and was reared to farm labor, continuing with his father until reaching legal age. After his marriage he purchased the family homestead and spent his after years engaged in its cultivation and improvement. He prospered and became one of the solid and substantial men of his section. He was active and influential in public affairs, but never sought office for himself. After the formation of the Republican party he allied with that political organization and was always a loyal supporter. He was a member with his wife and family of the Christian church.
