General Notes: Husband - Jacob Anthony

About 1760, his father moved the family to a place near Germantown, now North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the spring of 1774 the two older sons in this family, William and Jacob, decided to go west, and early in May, 1774, arrived in what is now Indiana County, Pennsylvania, near the site where Shelocta borough was later located.
When Jacob Anthony located there, the lands were unseated and vacant except for the Indians who lived in the vicinity. On March 23, 1775, he received a patent for his land, described as being situated one mile northwest of the Kittany, Kiskiminetas and Punky-townie (now Punxsutawney) path, and known as Anthony's Garden, and his deed was signed by John and Thomas Penn.

He came to what is now Armstrong township in 1774, and commenced an improvement on the land later occupied by David Anthony. The warrant was issued September 29, 1774, the patent March 23, 1775, by Thomas and John Penn. The land was called "Anthony's Garden," and was described as situated one mile northwest of where the "Kittanning path" crosses the "Kiskiminitis path," with vacant land all round.
