General Notes: Husband - Isaiah Kratzer

He acquired his scholastic training in the public schools of the neighborhood, supplementing this with home study and farm work. He worked for his father on the home farm until he reached man's estate, when he entered upon work in the oil fields of Clarion County, remaining there, however, but a few years. He then resumed farming and the remainder of his life was engaged in occupations of an agricultural character. He lived on a farm in Porter township, which, with the various improvements he put on it, may be said to be a farm which he made himself. Following in the steps of his father he was a highly successful breeder of fine stock. He raised Short-horn cattle, Berkshire hogs, and was also interested in the breeding of pedigreed horses. Other business interests also engaged his attention, as he was the agent for the Limestone Mutual Fire Insurance Company. He also held a number of township offices and for three years he served on the school board, and for another three years was superintendent of schools. The necessity to the community of giving the best education to the rising generation was one of his firmest beliefs and acting upon this, he gave time and careful thought to public education and to his own children he gave unstinted advantages. In political belief Mr. Krotzer was a Democrat, though he always voted for the man he thought best fitted for the office, irrespective of party affiliations. He was a member of the Masonic order, and was a charter member of the Grand Lodge, having also held office for twenty-five years, and was master for eight years. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian church. He served for ten years as an elder, and also held the position of superintendent of the Sunday school. [GPHAV, 588]
