He farmed for many years until 1904 when he retired to Sandy Lake, PA. In 1912 he moved to Grove City. A Republican and a member of I. O. O. F. and Methodist Church. He served some years as constable and tax collector. He served for three years in the Civil War in Co. G., 100 Penn. Vol. Inf. ("Roundheads").
