General Notes: Husband - Andrew Mechesney, Sr.


He was born in the north of Ireland and was brought to America by his father at two years of age. He was reared in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, PA, but in 1837 he removed from Unity to Derry Township where he purchased two farms. He was a very successful business man and owned over eight hundred acres of valuable land at the time of his death. He was a strict member and a liberal patron of the Presbyterian church. He was a well informed man, and an earnest advocate of education.
He and his wife raised a family of thirteen children; eleven were still living in 1890.
