General Notes: Husband - Conrad Hellam

He was the first of his family in the United States. He came from Germany with two brothers, all settling in eastern Pennsylvania, whence Conrad came later to a location west of the mountains, in Armstrong County, securing about two hundred acres of land near Cowansville. It was then all wild, and he built a log cabin to shelter his family, who were reared there. Mr. Hellam devoted the rest of his life to clearing and improving this property. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He and his wife had a family of nine children.
