After attending public school at Sharon, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Washington-Jefferson College in 1903. In 1907 he graduated from the Medical Department of the University of Pennsylvania and in association with his father entered the practice of medicine and surgery at Sharon. He was an honored member of the Mercer County and the Pennsylvania Medical Societies. He was connected with the Masonic order, being a thirty-second degree Mason.
