General Notes: Husband - Jonathan Wygant


He was enrolled July 12, 1862 as a private in C. A., 121st. V. I., 3rd Brigade, 3rd. Division 1st. A. C. He was wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness on May 5, 1864, by a gunshot and was confined to the hosital at Washington, D. C. He was furloughed for ninety days from the hospital and returned to his command in front of Petersburgh. He took active part in some of the most hotly contested battles of the war: Fredricksburg, Peora, Hay Market, Gettysburg, Beaton Station, Rappahannock Station, Wilderness, Weldon R. R., Hatchet Run and Appomattox. He was honorably discharged June 2, 1865.


General Notes: Wife - Abagail Heffernan


Her grandfather Tingley served in the war of 1812. Her Grandmother Tingley was on Perry's flagship Lawrence during the battle. Her first husband, James Bird, was killed in that battle and she wrapped his body in a linen tablecloth and went ashore with it.
