Clinton L. Hazlett
Clinton L. Hazlett Sr., 71, of Seneca RD 1, died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, in Venango Manor where he had been a resident for the past week.
Born Nov. 21, 1925, in New Kensington, he was a son of Lee Ray and Ethel K. Logue Hazlett.
Mr. Hazlett was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army with the 428th Armored Field Artillery Battalion in the Pacific Theater. He entered the service Feb. 5, 1944, in Erie and was honorably discharged April 16, 1946, at Camp Atterbury, Ind., with the rank of corporal.
He was employed for 11 years as a watchman by Oilwell Division of U.S. Steel Corp. in Oil City, prior to his retirement in 1986. He previously was employed for 25 years as a supervisor by Penn Line Tree Service.
Mr. Hazlett enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
He first was married April 25, 1944, to the former Betty Baker. He then was married in Fryburg Jan. 8, 1959, to Emma D. Work, who died April 15, 1990. Since that time, he had been living with Betty Henderson.
Surviving are four sons, Clinton Hazlett Jr. of Titusville, Thomas Hazlett of Temecula, Calif., James Hazlett of Wasilla, Alaska, and Lee Hazlett of Cooperstown; three daughters, Mrs. George (Jeanne) Schultz of Stow, Ohio, Mrs. Dale (Theresa) Harry and Emma Blum, both of Cooperstown; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.
He also is survived by five brothers, Paul Hazlett and Jack Hazlett, both of Townville, Connel Hazlett of Dixonville, Thomas Hazlett of Franklin and Michael Hazlett of Cooperstown; a sister, Peg Thurau of Cooperstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Hazlett, and a sister, Jane Grazier.
The Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home in Titusville is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Seneca Volunteer Fire Department, Main Street, Seneca, Pa. 16346.
