He lived in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, and Upton, later moving to Wardsboro, Vermont, where he died. While in Massachusetts he served in the colonial army as a private in Major John Hazeltine's company, his name appearing on the muster roll of 1755 and on the muster roll of March, 1756, of a company in His Majesty's service commanded by Captain John Dalrymple in the expedition to Crown Point.
