General Notes: Husband - Robert Hays


CAB, 646 states that his parents were John & Mary (McNutt) Hays. HVC 1879, 611 states that his parents were William & Rebecca Hays.

His parents came to Venango County, PA, when he was less than two years old, and located on what was known as the Oil Creek Road, from Franklin to Titusville, eight miles north of Franklin. His father was a native of Ireland, and emigrated to New York in 1795, and after a short time moved up the Hudson river to Poughkeepsie, where he remained two years, then moved to Pittsburgh, (by wagon), living there till 1804, when he came to Franklin. [HVC 1879, 611]

He was a lumberman and pilot on the Allegheny, Ohio and Mississippi rivers. He continued to make his home on his part of the old farm, dying there at the age of seventy-seven years.
