General Notes: Husband - Hugh Hays

He came to America with his widowed mother at the instance of a relative, Captain Fowler, who at one time commanded the old fort at Franklin - probably about 1765. This Hugh Hays was the ancestor of Brigadier General Hays, who commanded the Pennsylvania troops at Gettysburg and was killed at the battle of the Wilderness.
