General Notes: Husband - Jacob Marion Keefer

When he was six years of age his father died, and afterwards he worked on farms among the neighbors for his board and clothes. When he was 18 years old he enlisted in August 1862 at Venus, Pennsylvania, as Private in Company F. 121st Regiment PA Volunteers. He was in the hard fought battles of Fredericksburg and soon afterwards was stricken with a serious illness, and on recovery was honorably discharged for disability. He remained at home until in 1864, when he again enlisted, joining Company G, 155th Regiment PA Volunteer Infantry, and fought with the Army of the Potomac during all its battles to Appomattox, and marched with that tattered but triumphant army in the Grand Review before President Johnson. He received his honorable discharge on June 5, 1865. He returned to Clarion County and worked in the lumber woods as a saw hand. He was in the lumber business until 1902 in both Clarion and Forest Counties. In 1902 he settled in Clarion, where he lived a retired life. He and his wife were members of the Lutheran Church. In politics he was a Republican.
