General Notes: Husband - John Andre

He was brought to Mifflin county, PA, by his parents. At the age of 21 years he learned the carpenter trade. His father's family, all except himself, moved to Ohio, and located on the banks of the Little Miami river, near its mouth. He continued at his trade until September, 1828, when he moved to Venango County, Pennsylvania, and settled in, then Sugarcreek, but later Canal township, on land he had purchased about 1816. He commenced clearing away the forest and improving his land. He followed farming as his occupation for a number of years previous to his death. The farm is now owned by his sons, Wm. and John, and the heirs of James Andre, deceased. On the farm at different points are seen indications of the early homes of the native inhabitants.
