He received a superior education in the schools of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and in Georgia. He also attended the Pennsylvania State College. During his younger days much time was spent in Illinois, and in Georgia, Florida, and other southern states. After his marriage, he resided on the farm left him by his father, which he operated in a very successful manner.
