"World War II. Inducted into the U.S. Army January 22, 1944. Trained in California. Took part in the invasion of the Philippines in Company L., 381st Infantry Regiment. Was wounded on the 5th day of January, 1945. Was in the hospital until discharged August 11, 1946. He was wounded while on active duty as a flame thrower while firing on a pill box containing explosives." (3)
