General Notes: Husband - John Lupher

He was brought to Venango County, Pennsylvania, by his parents in 1819, and located in Canal township. He learned the carpenter trade when a young man. He followed that trade, and the manufacturing of threshing machines, horsepowers, wagons, and buggies as his vocation. In all, he built about five hundred threshing machines, and a great many powers, that were used in drilling for oil, previous to the use of engines for that purpose. His shops were known as the Canal Centre Machine, Wagon, and Carriage Works, operated by John Lupher & Sons. He had a farm, and followed farming in connection with his trade. He and his wife had a family of eight children; six sons and two daughters. [HVC 1879, 554]

He was a wagon maker, and lived at Hannaville, Venango County, Pennsylvania, until he reached advanced age, when he went out to Montrose, Colorado, remaining there until his death at the age of eighty-three years.
