General Notes: Husband - Tobias Long

He passed his childhood on his father's farm, attending in the meanwhile the local public schools. In the year 1868, when thirty-four years of age, he came to a farm about five miles southwest of Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, which for many years had been in the possession of the Long family and was that which was first settled by his great-grandfather. Many years later, however, is was sold to a man by the name of Kepple and remained in his possession until re-purchased by Mr. Long, who at the same time also purchased an additional forty acres. In 1873 he erected a handsome residence. The fine barn, which was adequate to all the farming needs, he erected in 1889. Here he carried on active and successful agricultural operations for a long period of years, and was regarded by his fellow townsfolk as an authority on many departments of agriculture.
He was a staunch supporter of the Democratic party, and was an elder of the Reformed church at Seanor.
