Death of John R. Harrison.
John R. Harrison, son of the late
Joseph L. and Louisa Jane Harrison,
was born in Venango county, Pa.,
April 1, 1851, and died in a private
hospital, which he had entered on
New Year's day, at Cadillac, Mich.,
Feb. 15, 1919. He was the second son
in the family, and most of his younger
days were spent in lumbering in this
county, and he was a well known fig-
ure along Tionesta creek in the days
when that stream was the main ave-
nue by which the millions of feet of
manufactured lumber were transport-
ed to the lower river markets. In the
spring of 1877 Mr. Harrison went to
Michigan to work in the lumber woods
for M. J. Bond. Retiring from the
lumber business he bought a farm
near Cadillac which he occupied till
last spring when failing health com-
pelled him to relinguish farming. Mr.
Harrison never married, and so his
only surviving relatives are two
brothers and two sisters, namely:
W. H. Harrison and Chas. A. Harri-
son of Nebraska, Pa., Mrs. J. W.
Lusher of Chanute, Kansas, and Mrs.
J. J. Brothers of Crown, Pa.
The body of the deceased will be
brought here and interred in River-
side cemetery, where his parents are
buried, the exact time of arrival here
being not yet known.
