General Notes: Husband - Henry H. Herpst


He entered the army as 5th Sergeant of Company A, 121st Regiment, on the 12th of July, 1862, and served till the 12th of January, 1865, passing through the various grades of First Sergeant, Second Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, and Captain of the same company. In 1868 he was elected Sheriff, and served three years. He later engaged in the mer-cantile business, and to some extent in the oil busi-ness. He bored a well, third in the county, in Clinton township, half way between the mouth of Scrubgrass creek and Kennerdel's factory. [HVC 1879, 537]

He had three children with his first wife, two sons and one daughter.
He had at least three children with his second wife.
