General Notes: Husband - Thomas Hamilton

He was brought to Venango county, PA, by his father in 1801 or 1802, and the family settled in Cherrytree township. He was educated in the traditional, log school house, with greased pa­per for a window, and a hole in the roof for the smoke to escape. His occupation was that of a farmer and surveyor. In the year 1840, he was elected county surveyor, and held the office one term. He taught a term of school in 1829 and one in 1830. He held various township offices, including the office of township clerk. [HVC 1879, 564]
