General Notes: Husband - Robert Hamilton

He was reared in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and came with his family, consisting of four children, to Oakland township, Butler County, in 1818. He located on a farm which had been settled by one James Douglas, a few years prior to his emigration, and a small cabin had been built upon it, which was used for a schoolhouse. When he died his farm, consisting of 100 acres, descended to his son James and a life estate in 100 acres more to his wife.
