General Notes: Husband - David Watson

He was born in the north of Ireland and came to America with his uncle, James Stephenson, who took up three hundred and twenty-four acres of land adjoining the Donegal meeting-house glebe land on the north, about the year 1740, for which he took out a patent Aug. 11, 1749, and called it "Seat of Beauty." He gave this land to his son Nathaniel, who died without issue.
On Sept. 5, 1780, the executors of Nathaniel Stephenson conveyed the farm to Jasper Yeates, Esq., who reconveyed it to David Watson on the same day.
He and Col. Mercer purchased the land left by Mr. Patterson (father-in-law), and Watson moved onto this farm in Leacock township [Lancaster County, Pennsylvania]. Watson was appointed one of the justices of the Court of Common Pleas. He was a prominent patriot during the Revolution, and rendered valuable service to the cause when serving on various committees. He administered the oath of allegiance to a large number of citizens in his own and neighboring townships.

General Notes: Wife - Mary Hamilton

Her father resided at "Waterloo," in Salisbury township [Lancaster County, Pennsylvania?].
