General Notes: Husband - James Hamilton, Jr.

He was brought to Venango County, Pennsylvania, by his father about 1801 or 1802. He purchased a 200 acre tract of land in the southwestern corner of Cherrytree township in 1818 and settled on his farm in 1833. He served a short time in the war of 1812. He was county commissioner from 1830 to 1833. [HVC 1879, 564]

He was born near Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and came to Venango county when about twelve years of age. After marriage, he settled on a farm. He was a soldier in the war of 1812. In politics he was a Democrat, and served one term of three years as county commissioner. [HVC 1890, 1047]

Another source indicates that he was still living in 1893. [BOB37JD, 454]
