General Notes: Husband - Dr. James Buchanan Siggins


He was educated at the local schools, Edinboro normal school, Allegheny College, and in 1883 was graduated from the University of Michigan. Here he was president of his class, and was later president of the Alumni Association. His medical practice was begun at West Hickory, Forest County, and Tidioute, Warren County, later removing to Tionesta, Forest County. He left that place in turn and settled in 1896 at Oil City, Venango County. There he carried on a large and successful practice. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania State Medical Association, the Venango County Medical Society and the Oil City Medical Club. Dr. Siggins was elected mayor of Oil City in 1911. In 1890 he was offered a nomination for the United States house of representatives, but he refused to accept. He was a Democrat.
He was actively engaged in the production of oil and successfully operated several leases.

In 1915 he was given a degree from the Allegheny College as a tribute to his successful career.
