General Notes: Husband - Joseph Porterfield


He possibly grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, settled in Westmoreland County, later moving to Venango County, where he built the first iron furnace in the Mill Creek district. He also engaged in lumbering and milling, owning a saw mill and grist mill on Mill Creek, Richland township.
