General Notes: Husband - James Anderson


Pinegrove where James
He was brought up in Pinegrove township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, attending the schools of the district. At the age of twenty-one he began work at iron furnaces, lumber mills, etc. In 1845 he bought one hundred acres of land, upon which he then lived, paying therefor two dollars and twenty-five cents per acre. He came to have more than fifty acres under cultivation. His house was built in 1881, the barn in 1884, to replace one erected in 1872 and burned by lightning in July, 1884.
He served as constable in 1852-55, and held various other local offices. Politically he was a Republican.
