General Notes: Husband - Mahlon Henry Mitchell

As a youth attended the public schools of Ashland township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania. His first independent work was in the oil country, later he was employed in a lumber camp, and also found employment as a farm hand. In 1886 he purchased a farm of sixty acres in Ashland township, located five miles distant from Knox. This estate was finely improved with modern buildings and with late farm conveniences. He was engaged in diversified agriculture and the raising of high-grade stock. For the past thirty years he was engaged in threshing operations, doing all the threshing for his neighbors. In politics he was a Democrat and he served as school director and as road commissioner. At one time he was a member of the Grange, and he and his wife were connected with the Lutheran church.

General Notes: Wife - Barbara Jane Hahn

She traced her maternal ancestry to Paul and Sarah Hugns, who were born and reared in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and who were early settlers in Clarion County. Mr. Hugns was a farmer in Beaver township and a member of the German Reformed church.
