General Notes: Husband - Samuel Russell

The Russell brothers - Samuel, David, James, John and Caleb - were among the first settlers of the southeast quarter of Cherry Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania. The Russells came to that region from Virginia. At the time of his settlement in Cherry Township, he purchased 500 acres of land for $30.
He was first lieuten-ant in a company from Butler County in the War of 1812. In 1824 he set-tled on a farm on the Allegheny river, one mile northeast of Emlenton, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County, where his son David would later reside.

He was married three times, and raised a family of twelve children. When he died, at nearly ninety-four years of age, he had nearly two hundred descendants. [HBC 1883, 425]
