General Notes: Husband - David Luce Hadley

About 1843 he came to Mercer County, PA, and purchased a tract of land in what is now Perry Township. By trade a shoemaker, he also became a sturdy farmer and promoter of the typical industries of the country. With other members of his family he cleared the land, erected saw mills, built public roads, and was so much the founder of the village of Hadley that it was named in his honor. For many years he was also the justice of the peace; was one of the organizers of the Hadley Presbyterian Church, and from every point of view was a strong personal factor in the most enduring progress of the locality.
He was married three times.
