General Notes: Husband - John Hugus

He was born Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and in early life was for several years engaged in mercantile business in Blairsville, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. He later returned to his native region and passed the remainder of his life there engaged in agricultural operations, always finding time, however, for the indulgence of the scholarly tastes which formed a striking feature of his character. He read widely, could use his pen with facility and was the author of many articles which appeared in the newspapers current at that time as well as magazines and other journals. He was also an accomplished mathematician. He was a member of the Reformed church and took an active part in religious matters generally. He was also a musician of great ability.
