General Notes: Husband - Robert H. McWilliams


The early life of Robert H. McWilliams was spent on a farm, his education was received in the common schools of the county, and his business through life was that of farming.
He enlisted August 1, 1861, in Co. A, 63d reg. Pa. Vols., and participated in all the important engagements of the Army of the Potomac for three years. Among the battles in which he took part were siege of Yorktown, Virginia; Williamsburg, Fair Oaks, Seven Day's Fight, Cold Harbor, Malvern Hill, Wilderness, Spottsylvania and Gettysburg and Petersburg and skirmishes until his time of service expired. He was honorably discharged at Petersburg, Virginia, on August 1, 1864. He raised a company for the N. G. P., of which he was a lieutenant. Mr. McWilliams was a member of the G. A. R. and of the M. E. Church.

He enlisted in 1861, in the Sixty-third Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served three years. He lived on the family homestead.

He and his wife had eight children.

Her grandfather came from Ireland to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
