He lived on the portion of land his father bought of Thomas Kerr in Washington County, Pennsylvania.

He was born in South Strabane township, Washington County, and received his education in the subscription schools of the neighborhood. After marriage he and his wife settled on a farm in the township, where they passed the remainder of their days. They were active members of the M. E. Church, and among its most liberal supporters; politically Mr. Zediker was a Whig of the old school.
