General Notes: Husband - Peter Grove

He was a native of Germany and immigrated to America in time to participate in the Revolutionary war. A boon companion of the famous Brady, he was a great hunter and trapper and was familiarly known as the "Indian hunter of the Bald Eagle." He drowned while attempting to cross the Susquehanna river.

He was a ranger in the Northumberland and Cumberland County (PA) Militia during the Revolution, was renowned as an Indian fighter, and was rewarded by the government for his valiant services. He drowned in the Susquehanna in 1802, while serving in the Indian warfare.

He came to America before the Revolutionary War from Driesbach, Holland. He died in a drowning accident in the Susquehanna River near Lock Haven after surviving many Indian battles. When he called for aid his companions did not help him because he was known to be a very strong swimmer and they thought he was joking. [GRB, 18]
