General Notes: Husband - Simon Grossman

The immigrant ancestor of this family, a native of Germany, he came to America about 1740, settling in what is now Adams County, Pennsyl-vania, on Mass Creek, near the present town of Gettysburg. He was mar-ried twice, but the name of neither of his wives has been ascertained. It is possible, perhaps probable, that Simon had other children than those listed, but if so their history is unknown. It is thought, however, that a certain Michael Grossman, who was born about 1745 near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, across the Susquehanna River, towards the moun-tains, was another son of Simon's, though the evidence on that point is not conclusive.
