General Notes: Husband - Conrad Schutt

He came to America [from Holland?] in 1823, stayed in Baltimore, Maryland, until 1835, when, tiring of city life, he journeyed to Zelienople, Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he remained until his death at the age of forty-four. He dropped the "Van" in his name when he came to the United States, as he said that it was not needed in democratic America. Thereafter he was known as Conrad Schutt. He was a refined, educated, Christian gentleman. He and his wife were members of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church but left that church when the English Lutheran Church was organized, of which they were charter members.
