Vanport, Beaver Co, PA

His father was accidentally killed when he was just two years old. He was reared in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and attended the common schools and an academy in Allegheny county. He went on the river when quite young, and followed it most of his business life; he was forty years on the Ohio and Mississippi in different capacities, and ran as pilot and captain for many years.
The family belonged to the Presbyterian church. In politics Captain Greenlee was a Republican.
